John James Audubon’s first home in the United States still stands. The site also offers a museum, an activity center, and a nature preserve. To learn more, COBBLESTONE spoke with Carrie Barron. She is the director for the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove. She’s also the communications director for Audubon Pennsylvania.
What is special about Mill Grove?
It’s the first place where John James Audubon lived in America. He saw birds here that he never saw when he was in France. And it’s where he fell in love with birds. We call it the Plymouth Rock of conservation. Mill Grove
