“We all love our homes and, over the past few weeks, it seems now more than ever! This quilt is a celebration of our autumnal home, when blackberries are ripe and ready to be picked, and anemones bloom. Nights are drawing in and the heat of summer is gone; I love this time of year. This quilt uses several different black cotton fabrics as a base – using various fabrics of one tone creates depth and adds a vintage feel to a background. The background is made up of three main strips and the border is mitred. Eight ‘straight back’ houses in autumnal shades have been appliquéd to the strip centre and, through the clever use of reverse wool appliqué, have ‘lit’ and ‘unlit’ windows.
