Three dead, six injured in horrific Scottish HST derailment
THREE people died following the derailment of a ScotRail HST travelling at 72mph south of Stonehaven on August 12.
Two of the dead were ScotRail employees, driver Brett McCullough (45) and conductor Donald Dinnie (58).
Passenger Christopher Stuchbury (62) also died.
A further six passengers and crew were also injured, the last one leaving hospital a week after the crash.
The derailment of the HSTin , which the leading power car and a trailer vehicle fell down an embankment and caught fire, was caused by a landslip.
On August 19, a week on from the incident, a one-minute silence was held across the railway network in memory of those who lost their lives.
Family members joined rail staff at Aberdeen to lay wreaths and floral tributes and to observe the silence. Flowers were also left at Carmont crossing.
