Fita may appeal tobacco ban ruling

The Fair Trade Independent Tobacco Association (Fita) is considering appealing the Pretoria High Court’s ruling after it failed in its bid to have the ban on the sale of tobacco products overturned on Friday.
Fita had argued that cigarettes should be viewed as essential on the basis that tobacco is addictive. Chairperson Sinenhlanhla Mnguni believes that they made good and logical arguments, which the court did not consider.
