AFRICAN SOLUTIONS TO AFRICAN PROBLEMS

The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic provides a golden opportunity for implementation of the mantra of finding “African solutions to African problems”.

The story of the battle between an eagle and a cobra teaches us that home advantage is important. A cobra is a lethal fighter on the ground, while the eagle soars high in the sky to show its might. Whenever the two creatures go into battle, the eagle gets a homeground advantage by taking the cobra high into the sky, where the cobra becomes helpless and hopeless.

Africans have long been reduced, and at times we reduce ourselves, to powerless and helpless cobras by fighting eagles in the sky instead of standing firm on our familiar ground.
