In his prime, Tebogo Moloi was a firm fan favourite at Orlando Pirates having broken into the first team in 1987.
He was a typical South African midfielder with his game full of mesmerising skills, flair and the ability to find cracks in any defence.
From the time he played for the local club in his neighbourhood, Rockville Hungry Lions, it was already known that he was destined for the greatness.
“When I was playing, our game was influenced by the generation that played before us,” says the 52-year-old.
“We were not exposed to football outside South Africa and the trends that were happening. The only thing that I knew when I was growing up was that football is all about entertainment and very results-oriented, especially if you were playing an important game in the cup game or a final. You dare not lose.
“WE JUST PLAYED WITH OUR FLAIR AND WHAT WE HAD SEEN FROM PLAYERS BEFORE US.”
