The mining industry of South Africa has been through difficult times over the last decade and needed support at this year’s Mining Indaba more than ever.

Mining is certainly a mainstay of the South African economy. The industry employs 454,861 people and in 2019 exported R348.2 billion, according to figures released by the Minerals Council South Africa. It paid R24.3 billion in company taxes and R8.6 billion in royalties for the minerals extracted.

The Mining Indaba in Cape Town is the biggest mining gathering in the world. This year, it brought together nearly 7,000 delegates, including more than 900
