BEING A PRO IN 2020

Trying to make mountain biking your profession has never been easy. It takes a huge amount of talent and dedication to push yourself to the level required and, unless you’ve got rich parents, it means huge financial sacrifices and juggling everything around a full-time job. In the past, there was a clear path to the top. If you were a downhiller, you raced DH. If you were a cross-country rider, you raced XC. Dirt jumper? You did the contests. Proving your skills earned the attention of sponsors. Being in the magazines was great, but you weren’t really expected to self-promote.
