Those of you making the gorgeous Spoondrift Block of the Month project (see page 85) will already have an inkling of textile designer Janet Clare’s style. In a nutshell, elegant designs executed in sophisticated and understated hues. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to catch up with Janet to find out more about her inspirations and working processes.

The creative process

Much of Janet’s work is influenced by nature and the seaside, but she has learnt to take notice of anything that attracts her, even if it is outside her usual themes. “Creativity doesn’t just happen,” Janet asserts, “amassing ideas is all about constantly paying attention to everything around you, which is something I now do
