Supercars Supercars no longer Holden on
The overwhelming consensus amongst Supercars’ movers and shakers is that introducing Camaro-shaped cars to compete with the existing Ford Mustangs is the most logical next move for the category, which is facing a dilemma following the shock announcement that the Holden brand will die by the end of this year.
But as the sport urgently debates its options, sharp divisions have emerged about how soo n to introduce the Chevrolets. The Walkinshaw Andretti United and Erebus squads want them fast-tracked onto the grid of next year’s Adelaide 500 but others, including Brad Jones Racing and leading Ford squad DJR Team Penske, would prefer Camaro’s introduction is delayed until the already-scheduled commencement of Generation 3 regulations in 2022.
