Salamanders: Amazing Amphibians

Salamanders are amphibians, not reptiles. Like their close amphibian relatives — frogs and toads — they have smooth, moist skin and need water or damp habitats for at least part of their life cycle. One big difference is that frogs and toads lose their tails as adults, whereas salamanders keep theirs. Some can even regrow their tails or legs if they are injured.
