MERCEDES E63 AMG
harlie Turner: A decade is a long time in this business, and the E63 wagon that in 2010 rather proves how fast things move on. KP10 NWH was the last of the line of the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8s; in the intervening decade AMG has proved that you can lose two litres in capacity, add twin turbos and somehow still retain the explosive performance and the rumbling drama that is a touchpoint of the AMG experience. Even a decade ago, the 6.2-litre V8 felt like a very special last blast of old technology, but god did I love that car. Combined with the understated (but purposeful) estate car looks, the old-old E63 was the ultimate Q-car. The mpg feels positively medieval in a world staring at an electrified future, but it had character in spades and felt like it was hewn from granite, making it something of a modern classic now.
