■ 6.1m (6 2/3 yds) Robert Kaufman Essex Yarn Dyed Linen Metallic in Camel with Gold Metallic (Fabric C)
■ White sewing thread
■ 2.5 x 2.5m (98½ x 98½") wadding
■ Ruler

Inspired by the most beautiful time of day – usually just after sunrise or before sunset, when the sun fills the sky with a deep lustrous yellow – Laura Preston’s design uses just two colours and shapes to capture the essence of this golden moment.
If you’ve ever dreamt of making your own quilt, here’s where to start. Patchwork like this isn’t full of tricky techniques, it’s simply about taking your time over cutting fabrics and sewing each section, slowly building it piece by piece. Use a 0.5cm (¼") seam allowance throughout, unless indicated.
Using the chart on the left-hand side and the layout diagram shown, cut Fabric A into the required pieces. Refer to the chart tofrom Fabric C and cut into the backing and binding pieces as indicated.
