can’t believe that it’s now, a fellow Californian. I was lucky to see her live on a couple of occasions, and few singers could ever match her for getting into the very heart of a role while singing with such effortless grace and finesse. She was at her very best in Baroque repertoire, in my opinion, which is why her performance in Handel’s at Glyndebourne is ever-present in my DVD player.
