Birmingham’s Town Hall was built for music – designed as, Parry’s , Dvoÿák’s and Elgar’s before, in 1920, becoming the home of the new City of Birmingham Orchestra (the ‘Symphony’ bit came later). The CBSO moved into Symphony Hall in 1991, but the Town Hall reopened in 2007 as an elegant venue for smaller-scale ensembles, chamber music and jazz.
