WWII PAINTINGS OF STOIC BRITONS IN LONDON BLITZ OMIT GRUESOME REALITY
uzanne Bardgett from the Imperial War Museum (IWM) has spearheaded a new study of artworks depicting the London Blitz. These paintings – 5,570 works from over 400 British artists commissioned by the War Artists’ Advisory Committee during World War II – were designed to showcase stoic Britons, and so historically.
