Homebuilding & Renovating Awards WINNERS REVEALED!
The Homebuilding & Renovating Industry Awards were launched this year to acknowledge and celebrate the amazing and diverse businesses and people that make our sector what it is. Having received hundreds of entries, the shortlist was compiled by a panel of experts with all companies, products and services demonstrating a positive impact on the lives of self-builders and renovators. Voting was then opened to the public who decided the winners.
JOHN GREENE FOUNDER, BORDER OAK
John Greene has dedicated his working life to the self-build industry, helping to establish the market from the early 1970s. For the past 40 years, he has continued to shape the industry as the founder of Border Oak with an unwavering focus upon the customer, innovation, craftsmanship and sustainability.
John pioneered the revival of green oak framing and quickly realised its potential to meet the demands of modern lifestyles and vernacular craft. Not only did John create a demand for this ‘new’ product, but he also invented and brought to market the high-performance ‘infill panel’, junction seals and expansion gaskets that enabled oak framing to meet ever-changing modern regulations. This revolutionised the sector and oak framing has become an important part of British self-build.
Later he identified the importance of encapsulation and designed a system that gave oak framing yet another phase of adaptability, combining SIPs and oak to produce some of the most iconic self/ custom build products available.
