DRONE SURVEYS WALLACE’S SCOTTISH STRONGHOLD

esearchers using drone footage have rendered a 3D footprint of Wallace’s fame. A reference to the site appears in the 19th century work , which accurately describes it as a “strong place of defense” atop a rise with an “extensive view” south. The book claims that Wallace, while laying plans to capture Lochmaben Castle in 1297, garrisoned troops at the fort, with whom he “sallied forth to annoy the English.” The new imagery reveals traces of the original earthen rampart.
