In the heart of Boyle Heights, just a few blocks east of downtown Los Angeles, is a community of 100,000 residents with a rich Mexican-American heritage. The history dates back from the late 1890s when early settlers were ethnically diverse, with Jewish and Mexican families. At the center of Boyle Heights is Mariachi Plaza, which resembles famed Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City. It provides musical artists a gathering point to showcase their talent for hire.
