Scottsdale Auction Week is a cornucopia of vintage vehicle sales, containing both fast-paced, high-volume operations and more sedate buying opportunities from companies offering the discerning buyer a well-curated catalog. Worldwide Auctioneers, based in Auburn, Indiana, offered such buyers a selection of 55 vehicles in its fourth-annual sale in the area, held January 15.

Located in the Scottsdale, Arizona, suburb of Tempe (a change of location from 2019), Worldwide’s Singh Meadows venue offered ample space for both spectating and shopping. The 2019 offerings were slightly more numerous than this year, but the quality was absolutely undiminished. Worldwide offered a selection that included Full Classics, European exotics, and domestic muscle cars. A particular treat was the 1956 Plymouth Plainsman dream car, handcrafted by Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin, Italy, on a V-8 Plymouth chassis (swapped to a 440 big-block at some point). The concept also incorporated a whimsical cowskin interior.

Bidders responded to the range of choices as one would hope, leading to 41 of 55 lots selling (a 74.5-percent sell-through rate), for a total of $5,977,225. Domestic cars constituted nine of
