WELCOME

Recently, designer Sebastian Cox talked me through the importance of ‘closing the loop’ and, is an inspiring read and I urge anyone with an interest in sustainability (so that’s likely most people these days) to read it. In this issue, homeowner Harriet Paterson demonstrates that green living needn’t come at the cost of style. Her schemes are elegant and effortless, suitable for a family and also carbon-conscious. The house enjoys high-tech whistles – underfloor heating is fed by an air-source heat pump and a rainwater tank supplies the dishwasher, washing machine and WCs – but also a considered ethos. Before moving in, Harriet planned a home for every object and cleared her family’s life of anything superfluous.
