Pros need amateur ethos

I read with interest the two viewpoints in the July issue on ‘Is the professional era better than the amateur one?’

Sam Larner focused on the product on the field, whilst Tom English looked at everything that happened off it. I agree with Sam that the game on the field is in a better place today – scrums aside.

However, Tom struck a chord with what happens after the 80 minutes is up. Perhaps moves could be made to bring amateur values to the pro game once more. Why not get the two teams together for a meal after
