BERSIH PUNTORAMA 4.0

With so much nascent talent in the water, it’s only right we provide our test pilots with a chance to spread their wings. So, from June 17–19, some of Australia’s best up-and coming above-the-lip surfers descend upon the Newcastle region for what is fast becoming a trademark event of the competitive calendar.

The brainchild of Bersih Brand, Puntorama, ran online for its first two years before teaming up with Surfing Life in 2019, to launch a unique stand-alone air event that brought sponsors World Surfaris, Nixon, Wyndham, and Young Henrys aboard to support a fresh format that’s designed to evolve with the sport.

After running an epic comp in Coffs Harbour last year (you may recall the viral clip that saw Reef Heazlewood and Letty Mortensen escape a mid-air mega collision by the lining of their wetsuits), the contest had lofty heights to live up to. Newcastle is selected as the 2020 event site due to its wave-rich coastline and central location.
