HE HAS a big scar on his neck that will probably be with him for the rest of his life – but Rabson Shaibu doesn’t mind because it serves as a reminder of how lucky he is to be alive.
For almost three weeks he lay unconscious at Victoria Hospital in Wynberg, Cape Town, hooked up to a ventilator as his life hung in the balance. Friends and family didn’t think he was going to make it, and even the doctors treating him were worried as the weeks ticked by and he became the Covid-19 patient who’d spent the longest time on life support at the hospital.
