It is piloted by a crew of two: Venus, the planet of love and Mars, the planet of desire. But before you get on board astrology’s love boat, let’s take a look at the real thing, the television series called The Love Boat that ran on the ABC television network for over 10 years and can still be seen on various cable channels. The series was based on a nonfiction memoir written in 1974, and titled Love Boats, Above and Below Decks with Jeraldine Saunders. It drew on experiences the author had as both a hostess and a cruise director in the 1960s and 1970s. She was born on September 3, 1923, in Los Angeles, California, at 12:15 p.m. PST, and passed away last year on February 25, 2019 at the age of 95.
Saunders held a variety of jobs in her lifetime. She was a fashion model early on, but through her own efforts she became a writer of columns and books, the latter of which included both nonfiction and fiction such as romance novels. As successful as she was in her writing career, she actually failed English in high school! Another of her talents, interestingly enough, was astrology.
