IN 1920, a group of Scottish sheep farmers established the Animal Diseases Research Association (ADRA), with the aim of tackling disease in their flocks. Its scientists subsequently produced the first vaccines against clostridial infections. The mission of the ADRA —now The Moredun Foundation—of ‘promoting animal health and welfare through research and education’ remains as pertinent today as it was 100 years ago.
