Linux Mint’s suite comprises a text editor (), photo viewer (), PDF reader (), video) and photo organiser (). Those may sound fairly parochial, and desktops all have their own equivalents of these, so why another new batch? Because many of these either ended up being forked from older Gnome versions, or were intrinsically coupled to Gnome componentry. The can be used on any desktop, and will never sacrifice traditional user interfaces.
