If you have trouble booting your newly installed Mint, don’t panic. Any other operating systems you had installed are very likely intact, which you tool discussed earlier will help you if you see some kind of Grub error. If you’re on Nvidia hardware and are seeing the infamous black screen of despair shortly after booting, reboot and hold down Shift to bring up the boot menu. Press E and find the line beginning linux /boot/vmlinuz… and at the end of it, after quiet splash add nomodeset . This will turn off modesetting, which is problematic on some Nvidia hardware. For general problems it’s handy to remove quiet splash to reveal any tell-tale error messages while booting.
