From hard news to international sports, Nikon’s new flagship DSLR is designed to answer the demands of professionals who need the ultimate combination of speed and accuracy. But the D6 faces a difficult challenge: its two rivals in the full-frame pro camera space are absolute monsters, with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III (reviewed in issue 227) being the most advanced camera we’ve used, and the Sony A9 II bringing all the benefits of mirrorless shooting into the pro sports arena – at a price point that’s around £1,500 lower.
