It’s a long time since the Tuono has had a proper overhaul, but every year or so, Aprilia seem to have made a tweak here and there to perfect the machine they call ‘Thunder’ (tuono is Italian for thunder). They aren’t fixing something that is broken, they are simply polishing perfection, and the result has been a bike that has blitzed the opposition in the supernaked sector for years and years. The 1077cc-engined wonder weapon might be a touch pricey at £16,999 but, by gum, it’s a hell of a bike with its abundance of power, sporty handling and plethora of electronic aids. Not to mention its devilishly good looks.
And if you like the bike’s looks, wait till you hear it fired up. The big V4 motor makes a raucous boom that growls aggressively at anything within earshot.
