It’s strange that we aren’t travelling to Tokyo, but I love being at home – I always have done. Travelling for me has always been a struggle and even more so since the birth of my daughter Willow, who is 15 months old.
My wife Leah and I have been doing loads of stuff with her over lockdown, such as going out on walks and to parks, which has been wonderful. We’re lucky as we have a garden so we take her outside to keep her entertained.
We moved into our new house before Christmas and we are trying to get it sorted with the extra time we have. I’m also using this time to keep fit and active. My targets are still the same – I’m still aiming towards Tokyo, it’s just a year later.
Before we went into lockdown, I got prepared and brought a pommel horse home. It’s in the garden – it’s got a barbecue cover over it and I just jump on and do a full session. I’ve been very lucky that I can keep that up. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing and I can keep some sort of fitness.
I stay connected with my teammates on Zoom. We do a workout together twice a week and once a week we chat or play quizzes.
I’m an ambassador for Pearson Education and I’ve been trying to learn some new skills by taking courses online with UK Learns. It’s a huge passion for me as I’ve always believed in constant learning and I try and push that on young people a lot, as the more you learn – especially when you’re younger – the more options
