CURIOUS PRACTICE

Warren Haasnoot (35) and Greg Lee (36) have more in common than a passion for architecture. They both graduated from TAFE and worked in architecture practices locally before completing their Masters of Architecture at the University of Newcastle. After a bout of gallivanting around the globe, they mutually decided it was time to start their own practice.

The pair established Curious Practice in 2015 – an amateur architecture firm that utilised their sense of humility and inquisitiveness to inform their process. Their emphasis is on slow and bespoke architecture, with a design style that considers flexibility, sustainability, longevity and harmony with the outdoor environment.

Haasnoot and Lee are continually striving for evolution and knowledge acquisition. Their approach has been well-received, as they were awarded best small project in the 2018 Newcastle Architecture awards. They also received two recognitions at the national Think Brick Awards, with the New Entrant Award and a high commendation
