Delaware City: A Jewel on the East Coast

Here we are in July already, and still there are no coin shows. I hope this will remedy itself pretty soon. I am, much like I suppose you are, getting more than a bit eager for the numismatic scene to resume. However, my interest in writing about national banks and their notes has not waned, so this month I will take you a little bit closer to my home in Maryland, and visit our neighbor state, tiny Delaware, to the eponymous Delaware City.

Delaware City is a very small port town in New Castle County, Del., on the Delaware River directly across from Salem County, N.J. It is located approximately 20 miles south of Wilmington on State Route 9.
