Attitude is Everything!
We all have experienced wonderful days fishing as well as not-sowonderful days fishing. What role does our attitude play in determining a good day or bad day?
The NALU KEA is the last of Hawai‘i’s haole sampans. She was built in 1988 for the sheer enjoyment of sportfishing all of Hawai‘i’s waters. She is sturdy, excellent in rough conditions and extremely comfortable while still very efficient and safe. We love taking the NALU KEA to South Point, even if the weather is problematic.
The fishing was slow during the first few months of 2020, but we heard reports that the ono were gradually schooling along the coast, so we gambled on an overnight trip at the end of May. Our crew of COVID-free quarantiners were anxious for an escape from “house arrest,” so we loaded the iceboxes and got underway at zero-dark-thirty on a Saturday morning.
