Living room LEGENDS
Having spent days, weeks and months at home, we’ve fallen back in love with television and the big names (and Dames), present and past, that make it such a comforting friend. We may never have met them, but their faces are as familiar as family. We know their quirks, laugh at their jokes and admire their words of wisdom.
To honour some of our favourite stars, we’ve opened up the national treasure box. Here, rounded up from daytime sofas, cobbled streets, police stations, vicarages and East End pubs, are some memorable moments.
Making us laugh SITCOM/COMEDY
1 GERALDINE GRANGER, The Vicar of Dibley (Dawn French) She’s godly, but reassuringly human with her love of chocolate, naughty jokes and handsome blokes. The chemistry between her and dippy Alice Tinker was truly heavenly.
REMEMBER WHEN? Gerry dreamed she was marrying stuffy David, but was saved by a dashing Sean Bean bursting into church.
2 The redoubtable trout puts the ‘bouquet’ into ‘bucket’, and has us hooting over the horror she shows her downmarket relations.
