Pays tribute to armed services

The Queen has issued a heartfelt message to mark Armed Forces Day, recognising “the dedication and risks faced by those serving our nation” at home and overseas.

Speaking on behalf of “the Duke of Edinburgh and I”, the monarch, 94, added: “We also have cause to thank veterans, who continue to contribute to our way of life long after they leave the armed forces.
