The Seaweed Collector’s Handbook, Miek Zwamborn (Profile, £12.99)

The subtitle, is a foretaste of the range of evocatively named seaweeds that fringe our coasts, but which many of us are unable to identify. Written and illustrated by a Dutch poet and artist living on Mull, who runs a project to explore the natural environment, this handbook covers history, culture and ecology, as well as recipes made from such bounties of the sea as pepper dulse, sea lettuce and bladderwrack.
