The COMMANDO MEMORIAL

On the top of a hill just off the A82 near Spean Bridge, a few miles from where the Great Glen meets Fort William, stands a statue of three men in military dress, rifles slung over their shoulders, all staring grimly towards the mountains of Lochaber. The stone plinth beneath them reads:

“United We Conquer/In memory of the officers and men of the commandos who died in the Second World War 1939–1945/This country was their training ground.”
