The Isle of Arran or ‘Eilean Arainn’ is home to a mixture of high and lowland areas with unforgettable scenery, earning it the nickname ‘Scotland in miniature’.
On clear days, Goatfell’s 874-metre-high summit is the first and last sight seen by ferry passengers in and out of Brodick; snow-capped in winter and always sentinel, watching over the glens. Goatfell (‘Goat Mountain’) is an unavoidable reminder of Earth’s power to force rocks upwards and erode them back down again – a showcase for an isle of fascinating geological history and unique landscapes.
