Under standards introduced last year, all new quad bikes (also known as all-terrain vehicles or ATVs) must have an operator protection device (OPD) or rollover bar installed by October 11, 2021.

The two largest manufacturers of these in Australia are ATV Lifeguard, which builds a segmented roll bar that helps to give crush protection on an upturned ATV; and Quadbar, a crush protection device that is designed to reduce the risk of injury from ATV rollovers.
