Contax battery use

s a dedicated Contax user, I've been investigating the problem of the lithium backup battery of my 167MT. Contax states that ‘the battery will last about 10 years under normal use.' As there are controversial opinions on this I bought two old Contax 167MT cameras to investigate and was surprised to find a resistor between the lithium battery and the four AAA batteries, which acts as a ‘trickle-charger'.
