SABOTAGE!
Noah tiptoed quietly down the iron steps to the playing field. It was early morning so no one should have been around, but he wasn’t taking any risks. This was his only chance to delay Sports Day – and he couldn’t risk anyone seeing.
He tore open the first bag of raw carrots with his teeth. He threw one carrot into the field, then another. Soon he was walking across the grass flinging carrots left and right.
‘What are you doing?’
Noah swung around, alarmed. It was his friend Drew on the steps, walking his dog Hashtag. ‘Are you practising for the javelin throw?’ Drew said.
He clanked down the steps too loudly for Noah’s liking. But Noah knew that Drew dreaded Sports Day just as much as he did. He could trust him.
‘I read about this school where a plague of rabbits cancelled their sports day,’ he said. ‘The rabbits dug so many holes in the sports field the kids would have tripped on them. The school had to stop all its competitive sports.’
