Walking into the doctor’s office, I took a deep breath and sat down.

Two weeks I’d waited for this moment.

‘Today will finally be the day they say I’m pregnant,’ I’d told myself over and over.

Still, I was prepared for that familiar rush of disappointment.

Eventually, I heard the doctor sigh.

Negative.

It was November 2015 and for the past three years, the results had never been any different.

My husband Nigel, then 42, and I were crushed.

Will we ever be parents?
