Tash Cope

Dance and fitness instructor, financial advisor

Tash is a bundle of energy. She is a fitness and dance instructor and, along with her friend, Kerri Dunshea, runs Secret Sunrise Lowveld, a monthly event of dancing, stretching, meditation and connecting with others in nature. They facilitate hour-long sessions using wireless headsets, which means events can be hosted in serene spaces without disturbing anyone.

Tash lived in Pretoria and Johannesburg before moving to White River six years ago. She and her husband, Phillip, have a house on Longmere Dam. She does part-time financial advisory work for National Treasury. “I left my job at the Development Bank of Southern Africa to come here. Quality over quantity,” she says, and laughs as she hears a splash. Her Weimaraner, Sparkie, is trying to catch a fish in the dam.

She says White River has a vibrant community, but hosting events can be a challenge. “We have a lovely quality of life, surrounded by nature, so people don’t really want to go out. They find ways to unwind close to their homes.”

She relaxes in nature and loves summertime. “We are surrounded by dams and forests. I can take my dogs for a walk without using leashes.”

Rosendal… Forever In My Heart
It has been six months since I returned to the USA, my home country – after 10 years in the little dorpie of Rosendal in the South African platteland. Where we live now, the roads are smooth and the electricity is always on, but there is a large hole
