LEARNING CURVE

Who hasn’t spent time dreaming about the perfect shack? And who hasn’t, while dreaming, taken off the rose-colored glasses and scaled back that dream when the realities of time, budget, and location crept back into view? I, for one. Still, it’s fun to dream and sometimes some of those dreams or modified ones become reality; perhaps a new rig, antenna, mode, or endeavor such as VHF / UHF roving (Photo A). Other times, it may be something as simple as perspective.

For example, a ham may not be able to leave the city and go to a high, hilltop, rural contest station such as in due to career and family demands. Instead, a city lot will have to suffice. Maybe not the ideal ham radio contester’s dream, but an enterprising ham will look at the city QTH (location) as an opportunity.
