■ Following the fire in May that closed the Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait, 11 locomotives that were stranded on Anglesey were shipped from Holyhead to the mainland in June. With no rail connected crane on the island capable of lifting a loco, they ran to Valley for the bodies to be removed from the bogies, which were then shipped back separately.
