■ Can you explain the grading term, “Fleur de Coin?”
The term is often misused and is actually meant to be a truly perfectly struck rather than simply a high uncirculated grade coin. U.S. coin collectors might consider Mint State 70, “It’s a term unfortunately much abused by both the inexperienced and those of shaky morals who will indiscriminately give any coin the grade without a second thought … ignore any coin marketed as FDC that does not instantly dazzle.”
