SKILLS FOR THE STEEP STUFF

Riding steeper trails gives a feeling of alertness and excitement that is hard to replicate in other ways. The constant threat of losing traction or tumbling off down a slope is enough to keep you tuned into what’s going on. It’s the feeling that a lot of us chase every ride, and a huge thrill when you can pull it off unscathed and roll out of the bottom of a section with a grin from ear to ear.

How do you survive on the crazy stuff then? There are ways of being able to handle the steep stuff that allow you to navigate even the most intimidating trail with control. This month we’ll take a look at a few pointers that will let you ride the gnarliest tracks with the same amount of control and confidence that you have on a standard graded trail at your local trail centre.
