I’ve been looking for the cause of my Mac’s poor performance and I’ve found a suspicious app called Dolanbaross. What is it, and how should I remove it?
Dolanbaross is one of dozens of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) which are easily installed on your Mac from sites pushing adware and other annoyances. It isn’t actually malicious, but risks delivering something more nasty. Most PUPs also have significant impact on your computer’s performance, particularly your browser, and subvert search and other functions.
Ensure you have the latest, fully updated version of a good malware protection tool such as Malwarebytes, and use that to scan for and remove it if possible. As PUPs change often, and don’t always receive the attention given to more malicious software, this may not work fully, and it’s worth manually removing any remains.
Open Preferences in your browser and select its Extensions option. Disable and uninstall it from that list if it’s there. Correct your General
