New York’s JFK International is normally a hugely busy international airport.
But it wasn’t the crowds of travellers that interested James ‘Jimmy the Gent’ Burke in JFK, back in 1978.
It was the money.
Only a few knew that German airline Lufthansa flew in currency to its cargo terminal there.
Among that few was Louis Werner. A worker at the airport, he was deep in debt to bookmaker Martin Krugman, owing a huge $20,000 (around £16,000).
